Alright people, this is the mapping competition for the 4th quarter of 2007, so let's end this year off with a bang.

Because of the lack of people entering these things, the rules are going to be fudged a bit. Anyone can enter, because the winner will be judged by popularity (rating). ANY mod/gamemode can be used for your submission. This competition ends when Quadropolis time hits 7th January 2008.

To mark your map as a competition entry, select it from the "Release Status" drop down box when you create or update your node. Remember: One map entry per person!

I hope quadropolis stays stable now! until yesterday i was not able to see my own content, does not make a competition more fun!

OK, this isn't working... The idea behind a competition is that you have a narrow set of rules in which you have to confine. If there are no restrictions it's not really a competition. It's like an apple and an orange competing to be the best apple or orange.

From now on, unless you have an interesting idea and are willing to host and follow through with a competition, no more competitions.

The competition restrictions were about a level of skill, but they also stopped people from bothering to work within those restrictions. People would rather create their own content, their own way. There's not much you can do about this, everyone in the Sauerbraten/Cube community basically does their own thing.

I think it is good I've managed to get small handful interested in helping maintain the community. After the trouble I've had development-side, I'd rather work on my own stuff and not concern myself with something that is both impossible for people to influence positively and a source of personal frustration for me.

For the record, there's some maps already tagged 'Competition Entry' under taxonomy. If you kill this competition, please at least copy down the rating/vote count and announce the winner. I'm fairly busy getting a new Blood Frontier done, so I'll not be able to automate this until I get some more free time, the time for which is very indeterminate at this point.

I have a question wich i do not know where to post and it is concerning my competition entry i'll ask it here, can you make text appear on the screen att respawnpoints or something, say like you enter a castle, and i want text eplain whats going on in the story-line so it will appear when you enter the castle something like this:

"I've entered the castle of this godforsaken city, the monster are more intelligent in these areas so i have to be extra careful"

I ask this cous it was atleast possible in "cube", or "death illustrated"
and the question is as simple as it sounds: how do you do it if its possible?

I thought for sure that the level9 map would beat mine, I'm surprised at the results. :)

Excellent maps from everyone. Thanks to all that participated and that voted for my little map.

I'm definitely in for the next competition. Hopefully there were be a more strict theme to work under so we can really go head to head.
