Detailed description

This is my remake of Roughinery. 90% faithful geometry, a bit warped vertically to allow for efficient cube placement. 80% faithful on pickup and spawn placement, matches the original as closely as possible, although substitutions have been made. Light placement is 90% faithful, although lighting is much more intense than the original, with brighter bright areas and far lower ambient light, making for some pretty dark shadows.

The map has been saved with lightprecision=128 to keep the size down. To see some of the beautiful lighting that Sauer is capable of I suggest doing the following:
/aalights 2
/lightprecision 8
/calclight
(now walk away from your PC for an hour)
/savemap

This one is truly a great piece of work !
Worth all it´s five starts. The detail is amazing !
I wouldn´t have minded downloading a little bigger file ;)

added inlaid pipes on some of the diagonal walls. they dont look quite as nice as the others, but they fill in some of the empty space. also added the missing red lighting behind the inlaid pipes everywhere, and corrected the location of one of the wall lights. still looking for a good starfield skybox.

Is this the same version as in the new release? In that case:
The Pickup Markers are a nice addition. But I think it needs some clipping here and there, especially on the jumppad. Also the inlayd tube´s pillars should be clipped.

The details are fantastic. Even those tired old textures look great. Worth all 5 stars. The map is an inspiration to learn Sauer ASAP.

Yes indeed this is the map that has maxed out Sauerbraten like no else until now. Sadly it´s far from playable at the moment, so let´s hope the dev´s will get the occlusion culling work ;)
When that works we´ll see if ut2004 layouts prove to make sense in cube-style gameplay ;)

all depends on your hardware. some people report min fps of 60 with the latest release. then again, some people see as low as 5. every release improves performance by significant amounts, it will only keep getting better. next year we will look back on this and see a bland map.
