Guide

I: Thou shall not infringe on copyrights.

II: Thou shall not make gimmick maps.

III: Thou shall not post a map that took less than 12 hours to complete on Quadropolis.

IV: Thou shall not use the clip/noclip materials in thine first three maps.

V: Thou shalt not capitalize file names.

VI: Honor thy Aardappel and Eihrul

VII: Thou shall not create spawn points facing a wall. This includes both monsters and playerstarts.

VIII: Thou shall not use the smallest grid size to create an entire map.

IX: Thou shalt not touch the lighterror variable. Ever. I will break the face of anyone who does.

X: Thou shalt not be a douche bag on public servers.

Thou shalt not create really, really big structures out of really, really small cubes. Especially on public servers.

For an example, look at the map Egypto. On the front face of the pyramid, you can see where the lightmap doesn't quite match up all the way across. (If you turn on outline, you can see the individual triangles. Flip it on and off for comparison.) Adjusting lighterror would fix this.

Because, without fail, people end up posting maps with walls and floors you can walk right through, and invisible bridges and walls where there should be nothing.

commandment IX is wrong, since there seems to be people using it. Inexperienced people should indeed not use it, but people who know what it does don't have obligations to do so :)

btw, if you shouldnt touch it, why the command isnt locked (or just removed)? On sauerbraten.org it seems pretty usefull (and: "There should be little reason to tweak this.")^^!

try doing a simplistic platform map with a few lights like the one blaret2 made a while back and go play with lighterror to see what it does and why it should not be removed at all

The point is that lighterror is a fairly advanced command, and people shouldnt need to use it often. get over it.
