I think if you would replace this as the chaingun, make it fires electric beams instead of bullets (just use the particles effect?) and replace the chaingun sound for some cracking sound, it would be pretty cool when using ingame.

Could you make an hudgun and vwep of it?

I know the vwep would create the biggest problem, since the animation of the playermodels has to be adjusted to it (so ask geartrooper if it's ok you do that?)

That is true. I'm trying to make an alternative "chainsaw"; for insta which is my favorite. I'm going to start again from scratch today and try to make a model more like the one in the video. The first stun baton was based on an older looking unit. I'll make it around 1 metre long so it's similar in gameplay to the chainsaw. I reckon blue electricity maybe, so it visually stands out with the opposing red player. I'll see how I go, should be fun to make.

It will be the hands that catch me up...

Some time later...

This baton is turning out to be pure science fiction. The further I get into it the stranger it gets. I'm going towards a "magnetic" magazine/cartridge reload, whereby in the reload animation the cartridge "flies" from the free left hand to the weapon handle slot. It'll make sense when I post the first basic model images.

It looks like I can't edit my original post to this thread. Does that mean I will need to create a new thread to link new files?

I'm really having fun with this. The program is Blender and my platform is Ubuntu. The latest Blender download is awesome. It's truly a wonderful thing that Blender is free and open source.

Spot on. As I progress with the Mutant Ogre Hands, I'll upload images of the changes to the album & post here after a collection of images. I just love the thought of making them absolutely hideous. We'll see how it goes. They're creative commons, so once they're done weapons will be much easier to make. :)

I tried to look for a fish model to adapt the fins from, no luck. So I think I'll make separate fin models off to the side of the hand, then join them.
(The mutations of this Ogre hand must be a result of handling radioactive and biological weapons.)

No worries, the fins will be very easy to adapt. There are a separate object to the hand so they can just slide away, leaving just the hand. Same with the skin color, it's one material, so can be changed to suit. I'm saving the blend file at stages along the way so a couple of models will result. I was thinking retractable claws, but the rigging may get a little complicated, so I'm going with attached claws.

Off-topic, I tried the map Aqueducts today for the first time, I was kind of drawn to it, thinking about the amphibian look of these hands. Awesome map!
