Blurb No more unrealistic falls... By tweaking fatalv, fatalacc and other variables player can become really fragile.

Detailed description

Works in all game modes. It reads 3 z-coordinates of camera (not actual player position) periodically
and calcs speed and acceleration. If speed falls into danger zone ( fatalv 1.25 fatalv ) checking for decceleration is enabled ; once decceleration occurs, player is killed.

So any wild movement puts you in wounded state; there mild deccelarations kill. For even more realism secondary health could be added. Once it is depleted, player is killed.

To prevent unnecessarr bugs use firstperson view and set thirdpersondistance 0. Note that fall speed ( as coded in source of game ) is not a function of fall height but but of the time spent falling.

As far as i can tell this stops you from falling to far because it kills you. But techically realism would instate that you would have to hit the ground before you die. Personally i dont think falling to far is a problem in cube. But you code change the cube 2 source to fix it so that you die if you fall to far. I think that a script is too much of a hack, and there is no reason to use it. Not only are there a handful of gitches, its a disatvatange. No one stupid enough to download some thing that would kill them randomly, or if they fall to far. This is too much of a hack to solve this problem. This was a bad idea but good try--keep up the good work.

i think a nice idea with this would be that if you fall down and hit the floor, your hudgun would move lower (like if you have to recover from the big fall) and then gets back to normal. maybe this can be done by using the "swayup" and "swayside" commands?

chasester: (about realism) once you are falling with death velocity, your dead anyway (you will only fall faster). I dont change source here; only cubescript is used. I try to correct bugs i see and upload new versions.

suicizer: good idea.

edit: rewrote so that it uses acceleration and velocity. after certain speed it gets into check for decceleration. Increased timestep to 100ms for more accuracy and more fixes. Now death occurs after hitting a surface.

^^ looks much more realistic already, with that "hit the surface" update.
maybe an expansion on my idea, what about when you get a certain speed, the hudgun moves slighty up (maybe by using the "swayup" command and giving it a higher value when the speed goes faster) and when you hit the surface, the hudgun goes back to normal position first, then bumps a bit up again (so it looks like you really "bumped" on the surface) and then back to normal position.
i think this would be the easiest way (and the most realistic), because to let the hudgun go down, needs to modified the sourcecode after all too...
