Beautiful map. I'm in favor of your use of textures, trim, general architecture, and layout. The only thing I dislike is you lighting. The skybox has a sun in it, but your map only has lights from the smaller sources in the map. Everything appears washed out and dim with your current settup.

I was playing with a sunlight and I added one in the farthest corner of the map towards the sun, and its height was about 2/3rds up relative to your clipping. I assigned it a value of 139 158 158, and personally think that it very much improves the maps appearance. It gives it that look when the sun has come out just after it rained.

Side notes: Your screenshot is too small ( should be 640 by 480, If I remember right ) and you should packages the map to a "packages" folder, compress that, then rename that. That way the first thing you see when you open the Zip is "packages"

it seems like gibbie style went populair after some few maps posted on quadro ^^!
1st thing, i like you put the names of the people that helped creating this map. its pretty square and fair on that way.
everything seems fine to me, exept the lighting is a bit strange, just because the wrath skybox of penguins has a big sun in it, while theres no light coming from it (so maybe you should take another skybox, or just recheck the lighting).
texturing could be done a bit better to, because most of the map is just the plain gibbie texture.
i dont know if mysterious snatched it from your map, or you did it from mysterious's gibbie_world, but the waterbassin isnt very original :S. the light texture at the sides of the waterbassin arent very well fitting to the floor texture either. there isnt much logical in the waterbassin to with this theme.
there is a particles fail (or it looks like it is) at "the eyeball" in the map (the one with skytexture behind it. that skytexture isnt very logical just because it doesnt got any depth in it, while just a few cubes above theres a platform).

anyways, nice map but still some things that could be improved!
gj keep it up, ill give 8/10 for now.

the idea is fun, but because of the jumppad the teledest kicks you out.

o.O you didnt just "start" it with me but well.. we have many forgoten maps that maybe got it almost on quadropolis. so its a good thing you finished the map.

though i dont vote maps anymore.

I would vote it 5~ because "my" mapping standart has grown.

okay people...i fixed some texturebugs,added a sunlight and some other stuff...
the map looks now way brighter...i was mapping/playing all the time with 130-gamma and didnt notice how dark the map is :P...sry for that...

heres some things to fix your map:

First get rid of all unnessary lights, any light that does not have a direct light source. These "envirormental lights are ruining the light calc, so the lighting does not look realistic. Next take the sunlight, at the top by the skymap, and attatch a spotlight to it (newent spotlight). Set the angle to about where it covers the whole map its about 60 (do this by highlighting and then scrolling the mouse until you get the disired position. Next set the light to about 650 ish radius, play with it a lil. Then set the following varibles:

ambient 70 60 40
skylight 150 100 30 // to brighten the map up use this keep porportions
fog 700 ish //depends on how you want it to look
fogcolour 0 20 30 // you can move this but keep the porpotion
shadowmapambient 0 20 10
waterspec 50 //if you want to be blinded by the light coming off the water bring this up

Note: you can simply highlight then copy (ctr + C; mac: apple + C) and then paste (ctr + V; mac: apple + V) directly into the cube command console.

These will give you a look like:

Ps: i would play with the particles, the pure blue does not match the rest of the map.

admin: don't post huge images... at least scale them down.

For outside, natural lighting,
1. ambient should be set low..between 10 and 20; the default is usually good. It should never be set to 0 as there is no such thing as a perfect black albedo=0 material and thus no such thing as a perfect black shadow.

2. the skylight should be tinted very subtly the same color as the sky itself. A blue sky should be tinted slightly blue..a red sky should be tinted slightly red. Subtlety is key as it is easy to overdo it. The effect should be barely noticeable, if it all.
For night scenes, a dim blueish tint is good for starlight. Use actual lights for moons, etc., tinted slightly to the color those moons, etc. emit.

This should be done as skylight simulates the light scattered in the atmosphere.
Don't bother with a skylight if your world has no atmosphere like the moon.

Skylight should be blurred to disguise any shadow lines the multiple light sources of skylight might cause.

3. The sunlight should be slightly tinted to the color of the sun. This can change depending on the time of day. Early morning might be reddish whereas noonday sun should be vaguely yellowish. Other worlds might have different colored suns.

4. Fog should be used to simulate atmospheric scattering due to distance. It will always exist unless the world is in vacuum. The color tint should reflect any mood; blues cause the scene to feel cool or sterile, whereas warm colors make a scene feel warm and organic.

5 any sunlight that streams through windows or doors should have subtle lights near the bright spot and colored the same as the color of the bright spot to simulate bounce lighting. A light spot on a red wall should be slightly tinted red, for example.

Just my own thoughts and opinions on what works for me.

tested and approved, kaz spanked me like a helpless baby and took my candy. I would definitly consider this a map equal to turbine, complex and ot as a tournament dueling map.
