Detailed description

This map aims to please in every game mode,
DMSP monsters tend to bundle themselves at lowest map points though :(

This is a reprise of a Q2 1-on-1 map I did some years back.

There are only 4 player spawns for now, due to the layout other starts
would have to be in the arena and I'm still not sure if I'd like that.

Forgot to attribute dbox for the skybox!

So now the updated readme has a sentence urging the user to d/l "The Transport" so as to get the skybox ...

Four stars it is... but there's one thing that bothers me - when you fall into the water, you don't die instantly, but have NO WAY of getting out. I say just remove the water and let the player die.

I like it, it's simple, small, and has some gameplay.

But I think that you could add some more detail, some towers or something and more ilumination to add some more life to it.

Also the place where I can see the earth through the water is a little irealistc, think you should fix that by adding a floor in that "pool".

The only problem I have is with those water-filled chambers. I think you should either clip off the holes in the floor above or have a way to get out. Or just remove the water so players (and monsters) die right away.

Also, a few more items, like on top of the towers. And maybe put a quad somewhere in there.

Otherwise, I think this one is Sauer worthy.

Of course the towers need some fleshing out and I've already begun that task, but it needs time - I haven't got much @ the moment. Please be patient ;-)

Regarding the water - well it used to be LAVA - which would kill rather quickly back in Quake2.
I especially placed everything near the bottom of the map so the "suicide box" is at the bottom of the ... liquid ... to come close to this effect.
So clipping the holes off is no option -
that's the fun/hard part of the map -
not just falling off but also falling through. :)

Since it's not lava I'll think about having some exits,
so it's death for the slow & unwary and only a bugger of a slow-down for swimmers - deal!?!

I've thought about your concerns;
my solutions vary to the tune :
- the whole "realism" debate hopefully ends with the switch to mars skybox (from vanilla sauer)
- lava is now flesh/meat but can be waded through and left ... and right. ;-)
- focus of fear of falling :
a) on wooden sideparts,
b) from edge (which has been broadend and sloped)

So this now keeps the sideparts a treacherous ground but
also alleviates the tension of falling off map.

I really think this should improve gameplay,
I'm kinda fixed on the whole die through a mis-step on the sideparts ... even though I really think this sucks for playing the map in DMSP/SP - the monsters all end up at lowest map points - yeah : they're pool-partying in the shadows, cowardly scum that they are.

SP mode can now be played too, less pool-goers but still some wet-jobs!
