Blurb A new sound for the chainsaw by Firewolf34

Detailed description

This is my updated version of the old chainsaw sound. I think the original doesn't sound so good, so I cut up some chainsaw sounds and voila, here it is. I hope you enjoy this. If you reproduce this then please give me credit for it.

It rumbles like the real chainsaw when its idling. When you actually fire it up it cycles between full and semi full throttle (do chainsaws have a throttle?) and sounds like your actually using a chainsaw, instead of the two tone sounds that come with the game. So here you go, enjoy!!

Update: Sorry for the .DS Store file and the MACOSX folder. Ignore both as they were an issue from a bad compress. The true files are the Readme and the two Ogg Vorbis sound files.

Just keep trying to upload the file, sometimes Quadropolis doesn't accept the upload when traffic is too high. ;)

There are DS store files and a MACOSX folder, remove these please...

Is it a big problem? I can re-upload that text file if you like but I don't have the original files anymore. I think you can open them with Word or Notepad on a Windows, or TextEdit on a Mac. That wasn't intended to go along with the files into the folder, so it can just be burned after reading.

If its a big issue tell me and ill try to find the original files on my other computer and re-upload.

.DSStore Files are a hidden files that were compressed along with the chainsaw files. They take up virtually no space, and you wouldnt even see them if you were on a mac. The MACOSX folder was an accident (as was the DSStore files) because when I zipped up the file I was using a UNIX script instead of my normal file compressor. As with the .DSStore file these take up no space, and saying as they wont interfere with your sauerbraten game, I request you ignore these. I dont even have the original files anymore to re-upload.

In total I'm just asking you to ignore them and enjoy the chainsaw sounds. To you and anyone else reading this Im sorry for the slight inconvenience.

i like the idle better but the attack sound sucks D: its so fake
add some depth and bass to the sound, a .mid would sound better lol

Hehe. Although they were both sampled from a real chainsaw, the attack sound was chopped up a bit much and was from a different sound file than the idle. It does sound a bit too high pitched. I might fix it but im lazy. Still, its better than the original right? ;)

yea it gives a better sound effect. If sauerbraten was able to play the files correctly as a real media player it would be even better. There is a huge quality loss ingame and sound files have to become distorted in good media players in order to sound better ingame, and that is a bad thing.. But oh well, you or me can't do anything to fix this =P
a better chainsaw sound is something SB needs atm since the current is too subtle and doesn't seem alive..
